If you’re a college student in the United States, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is a way for you to apply for financial assistance with your college tuition. This is an application you should be completing and submitting to the federal government every single year while you’re enrolled in college.
Completing the FAFSA could make you eligible to receive need-based financial benefits like federal grants, federally subsidized loans, and work study programs. It could also make you eligible to receive additional need-based financial benefits from your state government and from the school you attend.
These financial benefits are generally distributed on a first come, first served basis, so make sure you submit your FAFSA as early as possible to increase your chances of receiving financial aid. If you don’t, you could be missing out on thousands of dollars available to help pay for your education.
